Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is a world leader in interconnect solutions for Communications, Mobile, RF, Optics, and Commercial electronics markets. Amphenol Corporation is one of the world’s largest designers and manufacturers of electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors and interconnect systems, antennas, sensors and sensor-based products and coaxial and high-speed specialty cable. ACS has an expansive global presence in research and development, manufacturing, and sales. We design and manufacture a wide range of innovative connectors as well as cable assemblies for diverse applications including server, storage, data center, mobile, RF, networking, industrial, business equipment, and automotive.

The Staff Power Systems Architect is a customer-facing technical role at the intersection of system-level power architecture and connector/cable interconnect engineering. Working directly with hyperscalers, GPU/CPU partners, infrastructure partners, and Rack Power ODMs to understand current and future power delivery architectures and turn that insight into connector and cable power solutions. The role sits between the customer's engineering teams and internal product engineering, R&D, and applications engineering, acting as the primary technical liaison who gathers requirements, aligns architecture with product capability, and presents solutions back to the customer.

Staff Power Systems Architect works independently to technically support strategic programs at key customers. Lead and influence technical programs to accomplish strategic objectives. Provide technical expertise to solve our customers’ interconnect challenges and devise strategies that differentiate our technical expertise, products, and solutions to our competitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Requirements: Set the strategy for technical requirements-gathering and strengthening the relationship with customer engineering teams for power architecture requirements.
  • Architecture translation: Lead the translation of complex, often ambiguous system-level power architectures (e.g., 800V bus conversion, sidecar or vertical power delivery, busbar distribution) into connector and cable technology requirements to define product development.
  • Customer-facing solutioning: Act as the senior technical spokesperson for power architecture discussions at customer leadership level, presenting solution strategy and long-term roadmap alignment.
  • Cross-functional alignment: Shape multi-year connector/cable roadmap and investment decisions in response to anticipated shifts in customer power architecture.
  • Specification development: Define the specification frameworks and technical documentation standards used across teams for new product development and design-in.
  • Design-in support: Serve as the final technical escalation point for complex qualification, validation, and design-in challenges.
  • Industry Standards: Represent the organization in industry standards bodies and consortia (e.g., OCP) that shape power delivery and interconnect direction.
  • Voice of customer: Provide strategic customer and market insight that directly shapes long-range roadmap and new product development planning.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the technical team.
  • Identify long-term architecture shifts and translate them into product roadmap and investment recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related engineering technical field.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 10–12 years of experience in power connector, systems engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Master’s degree with >8 years of experience in power connector, systems engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Deep expertise in high-voltage/high-current power architecture for data center, industrial, or similar infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience owning strategic technical relationships at a senior or principal engineering level.
  • Experience representing a company within industry standards organizations.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor other engineers and to influence roadmap and business decisions with technical input.
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with data center or high-voltage (e.g., 800V) power architecture across multiple customer platforms.
  • Recognized standing within the connector and cable industry and its power interconnect product landscape.
  • Knowledge of various safety standards including UL and IEC
  • Advanced exposure to power integrity simulation or analysis tools.

Track record of shaping product roadmap decisions based on technical strategy.
