Technical Project Manager

Location: Hampton, NH
Company: Ardent Concepts

Position Summary

Ardent Concepts is seeking a Technical Project Manager to drive the planning, coordination, visibility, and execution of cross-functional engineering and product-development initiatives.

This role is being established to strengthen project-management discipline across the organization and improve Ardent's ability to execute strategic engineering initiatives predictably and efficiently. The Technical Project Manager will develop and maintain detailed project plans, coordinate cross-functional activities, track milestones and dependencies, drive action-item closure, identify emerging risks, and provide clear visibility into project status and resource requirements.

The role will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and other stakeholders to translate business objectives and target schedules into executable project plans. The Technical Project Manager will own the day-to-day management and organization of assigned projects, while functional teams retain ownership of their respective technical and operational deliverables and executive management maintains responsibility for business prioritization and resource-allocation decisions.

The successful candidate will combine strong project-management discipline with sufficient technical and business understanding to successfully manage engineering-focused programs. This is not a hands-on design engineering position. Rather, the individual should understand product-development and manufacturing processes well enough to ask the right questions, recognize dependencies and risks, assess whether the project plan adequately supports its milestone dates, and ensure the appropriate stakeholders are engaged.

Role Boundaries and Decision Rights

The Technical Project Manager does not make engineering design, technical tradeoff, product-architecture, validation-method, or engineering-release decisions. Engineering retains ownership of technical scope, design approach, technical requirements, detailed engineering tasks, feasibility assessments, technical estimates, and engineering release decisions.

The Technical Project Manager owns the project-management process: the integrated plan, schedule, dependencies, action tracking, risk and issue visibility, meeting discipline, decision documentation, and timely escalation of unresolved execution issues.

In partnership with Engineering, the Technical Project Manager will facilitate development of the work breakdown structure and ask informed questions to ensure the plan accurately captures the activities, sequencing, dependencies, technical risk-reduction work, validation, and resource assumptions identified by Engineering as necessary to support agreed milestone dates. The role may surface the need to evaluate parallel-path work, alternates, or recovery options when timing is at risk; Engineering determines the technical approach and feasibility of those options.

Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead the day-to-day project management of assigned engineering, product-development, R&D, operational-improvement, vertical-integration, supply-chain, and other strategic technical initiatives.
  • Translate agreed-upon project objectives and target schedules into detailed project plans, work-breakdown structures, milestones, dependencies, responsibilities, and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestone plans, action-item trackers, risk registers, decision logs, and other project-management tools.
  • Facilitate the creation of realistic project plans by working with functional owners—particularly Engineering—to identify required activities, resources, dependencies, capital requirements, technical risk-reduction work, and timing.
  • Maintain accurate, current project information and ensure that responsibilities, deliverables, due dates, dependencies, and unresolved decisions are clearly understood.
  • Drive action-item follow-up and closure across cross-functional project teams.
  • Identify critical-path activities and schedule dependencies and maintain visibility to their impact on overall project timing.
  • Coordinate multiple functions toward common project milestones without assuming functional ownership of their technical work or directing engineering decisions.
  • Work with Engineering leads to ensure the project plan accurately captures the technical activities, task durations, dependencies, and decision points identified by Engineering as required to achieve the committed milestone date.

Risk, Schedule & Resource Management

  • Proactively identify schedule risks, resource constraints, dependencies, and potential project delays before they impact key business milestones.
  • Maintain project risk and issue registers and drive appropriate stakeholders to develop mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Facilitate discussions around potential recovery strategies when project timing is at risk, including resource requirements, capital investment, alternative manufacturing approaches, evaluation of technical alternatives, sequencing, or reprioritization. Technical decisions remain with the responsible Engineering owners.
  • Surface where appropriate parallel-path investigation, early risk-reduction work, or contingency planning may be needed to protect timing; Engineering will determine the technical approach, scope, and feasibility of such work.
  • Escalate unresolved schedule, resource, technical, or dependency issues to Product Management, functional management, or executive management as appropriate.
  • Support engineering resource and capacity planning by providing visibility into current and future project requirements.
  • Support forecasting of headcount, capital equipment, operating expenses, tooling, and other project requirements.
  • Ensure capital requests and other project-related approvals are identified early enough to support committed schedules and drive follow-up through the appropriate approval processes.
  • Provide visibility into conflicts between projects so leadership can make informed prioritization and resource-allocation decisions.

Product Development & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate activities across Product Management, R&D, Product Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and other functions involved in project execution.
  • Work with Product Management to translate roadmap timing and business priorities into executable cross-functional project plans.
  • Coordinate required design reviews, DFM activities, prototype builds, validation activities, qualification, documentation, release activities, supplier activities, and manufacturing-readiness milestones as applicable to each project.
  • Ensure project plans appropriately address the required elements of Ardent's product-development and phase-gate processes.
  • Coordinate project activities related to drawings, BOMs, engineering changes, validation, quality inspection, tooling, supplier qualification, and production readiness without assuming technical ownership from the responsible functional groups.
  • Support Product Management and Engineering in evaluating the schedule impact of changing priorities, requirements, resources, and technical challenges.
  • Ensure risks, decisions, resource requirements, and cross-functional dependencies are visible to the appropriate
